Before we start talking about theme installation, we should know some facts about WordPress themes. The Digilink package includes two themes: the Parent theme and the Child theme. Let's understand how they work together first.
Understanding Parent & Child Themes
A WordPress child theme inherits all the functionality, features, and styling of another theme, known as the parent theme. It allows you to safely customize your website without altering the core theme files directly.
All of your modifications are stored safely inside the child theme, and any file inside it takes priority over the parent. For example, if the same template file exists in both directories, the child theme's file controls that aspect of your site.
Why use a Child Theme?
Safe Updates: You can easily modify your website without ever changing the parent theme code. When a new version of the Digilink parent theme is released, you can safely update it without losing any of your custom tweaks.
Easy to Extend: A child theme offers incredible flexibility. It doesn't require writing complex code from scratch; you only need to modify the specific template files or functions you want to change.
Note: When installing your theme, you must upload both the Digilink parent and Digilink Child theme folders to your server, but you should only activate the Digilink Child theme via your dashboard.
Methods to Install the Digilink Theme
Here are the 2 standard ways to install the Digilink theme on your WordPress website:
FTP Upload:
Unzip the downloaded theme package on your local computer.
Open your preferred FTP manager (e.g., FileZilla) and connect to your web hosting server.
Browse to the directory: /wp-content/themes/
Upload both the unzipped digilink and digilink-child folders into the themes directory.
Log in to your WordPress dashboard and navigate to Appearance→Themes.
Locate the Digilink Child theme and click the Activate button.
WordPress Upload:
Log in to your WordPress backend
Navigate to Appearance→Themes and click the Add New Theme button at the top.
Click on Upload Theme.
Click Choose File, select the digilink.zip folder from your local machine, and click Install Now. Do not activate it yet.
Repeat the exact same process for the digilink-child.zip folder.
Once the child theme installation finishes completely, click the Activate button on the Digilink Child theme.

Let's talk about the installation process. Once you have installed & activated the Digilink theme, you will see a notification in your WP dashboard. Like this:
Click on the Begin Installing Plugins link within that notification bar to open the installer management window.Select all plugins by checking all the checkboxes.
